The correct management of a swimming pool requires water treatment systems mainly aimed at reducing the bacterial load.

Widely used for undoubted efficacy and convenience of use, disinfection treatments with dichloro and trichloroisocyanuric acid, have as main contraindication the formation of isocyanuric acid and its accumulation in pool water.

As the concentration of isocyanuric acid increases, problems for bathers arise from the formation of chloramines, irritating compounds for skin and eyes, from the lowering of the pH value beyond the limits of tolerability and from the inhibition of the action of hypochlorous acid with growth of the pathogenic microbial load.

Currently the only solution practiced is the periodic replacement of the water of the plants.


Ecopool Smart Filter 2017 is an R & D Project whose objective is the design and construction of a modular system for the treatment of pool water capable of reduce the excess of isocyanuric acid that accumulates as a result of disinfection treatments, reporting its concentration within the permitted limits.

The system that will be developed will save on the consumption of water resources and it will avoid that high values of isocyanuric acid inhibit the disinfecting action of chlorine, reducing the possibility of infections of bacterial origin.
